Dear Neighbors,
SVdP June 2025 Schedule Sign Up Genius: Please sign up right away. We need to fill a team for this Saturday! We just ask for one Saturday of your choice a month from 1-3 pm.
Community Meal: The next Community Meal is Saturday June 21st. (Rescheduled from June 14th). If you would like to help, please contact Angela Wilder at angwilder3@gmail.com
A Story from the Heart: Last September I shared a story about inviting a St. Peter neighbor to church who was intending to go to a pancake feed. She agreed to come to Mass and liked it. She expressed an interest to find out more about the Catholic Church. Father Broheimer and I have been meeting with her to share what we believe as Catholics. She decided she wants to become Catholic! She will enter the church on June 21st at the 8:00 am Mass. I invite you to join us and help welcome her into the church. If you can't attend, perhaps you could send her a card. Kristine Wright 600 S. 27th St. Apt. # 402 Omaha, NE 68102. Please keep her in your prayers.
SVdP Monthly Meeting: We will not be having a SVdP Meeting in June due to the Ordination Celebration for Brian Hula. Please let us know if you can join Kevin and I. neighbors.svdp.stp@gmail.com or 402-669-8014.
Pantry Needs: Toilet paper, canned fruit and cereal. Items may be placed in the brown bins at the entrances of the church or in O'Brien Hall. Our pantry numbers keep increasing because many people in the city are dealing with food insecurity. Thank you for your generosity. Any perishable items may be donated at the Parish Hall (723 S. 27th St.) on Saturdays between 1:00 - 3:00 pm. We are looking for gardeners to increase their planting and help our pantry out this year with fresh produce. Eggs and fresh produce can be dropped off on Saturdays at 1:00 pm at our Parish Hall. Excluding Holiday weekends.
Items can be left in the brown bins by the entrances of the church. Thank you for your generosity.
Omaha Bridges: St. Peter SVdP will be partnering with Omaha Bridges to offer a "Getting Ahead in a Just Getting by World" class starting in July through early Sept. We will be asking for people to bring meals for the class. This class gives our neighbors the tools they need to improve their lives. They leave with confidence and hope that they can make a positive change. They are also given a $300.00 stipend upon completion of the class.
Food Giveaway Recap: Thank you to everyone that came out to help with the Spring Food Giveaway. We distributed over 6,000 lbs. of food in two hours. We blessed many people in our neighborhood that are experiencing food insecurities. The next Food Giveaway will be in the fall.
